About “The Power to Change Lives” Campaign

Each day, the physicians, researchers, students and staff of The Ohio State University Medical Center change the lives of people in central Ohio and beyond.  Many of these accomplishments would not be possible without the generous support of our friends and community leaders.

“The Power to Change Lives” campaign is the first fundraising campaign focused solely on furthering the three-part mission of the OSU Medical Center – research, patient care and education.  Our goal of $500 million is ambitious, but it has the potential to positively impact millions of lives as the mission of the OSU Medical Center is advanced.

“The Power to Change Lives” campaign will provide opportunities for giving in a variety of ways that will be meaningful for our donors and life-changing for our patients, faculty, students and staff.   This campaign not only supports, but also personifies the work and accomplishments of the OSU Medical Center. “Power” denotes the strength, depth and breadth of our three-part mission:

  • The strength of our Patient Care mission is evidenced by our being named “One of America’s Best Hospitals” by U.S. News & World Report year after year.
  • The breadth of our Education mission is attested to by our exceptionally comprehensive mix of disciplines and courses of study, as well as by our award-winning faculty and the College of Medicine’s ranking by U.S. News & World Report as one of the top public medical schools in the nation.
  • The depth of our Research mission is measured by the more than $100 million of research monies awarded to our faculty and staff by various outside entities. Over the past two years we enjoyed a 75 percent increase in NIH (National Institutes of Health) funding, one of our key benchmarks for success.

“Change” denotes transformation, innovation and life-enhancing impact on circumstances or individuals.  At the OSU Medical Center, each of our mission areas – patient care, education and research – are intricately linked and have a strong correlation with one another in their transformative power.  Although each is unique in its own regard, our increasingly positive patient outcomes rely upon our strong base of research and education initiatives, as well as our facilities, to create the life-enhancing impact of our institution.
