Neurosciences
Campaign Goal: $50 million
Neuroscience, focusing on the development, structure, function, chemistry, pharmacology, clinical assessment and pathology of the human nervous system, encompasses the OSU Institute for Behavioral Medicine Research and the OSU Neurobiology of Disease Institute. The former houses what is probably the largest contingent of researchers in the world in the field of psychoneuroimmunology, experts in immunology, virology, psychiatry, psychology, endocrinology, molecular biology, behavior, oncology and neuroscience; the latter is focused on providing a forum for clinical and basic scientists to collaborate in translating basic cellular and molecular neurology into clinical therapies for neurological disorders.
